Cooling Options
More options for cooling your home
There are a few ways cooled air is available to your home: central air conditioning, ductless mini-split or split systems.
Central air conditioning is considered low velocity, uses duct work throughout the home and also requires a condenser outside. Alternatives include the ductless mini-split and the high-velocity system. This compact delivery system adapts well to retro fits and installations in older homes where duct space is limited.
Ductless mini-splits require no ductwork at all. It works well with open floor plans or where no duct work can be installed. The fan unit is mounted on the wall or ceiling and piped to the outside condenser.
Split systems use refrigerants of the same design, no matter what the source of air handling equipment used (furnace, heat pump, hydro-air, etc.).
